In fact, DesignCrowd offers a wide range of design services beyond logos, including business cards, T-shirts, website designs, cartoon characters, and even envelopes. The list is extensive, so it’s safe to say they can design nearly anything you need.
The platform is available in English, French, Spanish, and German, allowing you to get logos in various languages. All of their services are paid, with no free trials or samples, but the pricing is generally affordable (details on that later).

DesignCrowd offers everything you might expect from a site focused on design, but it’s far from simple. In fact, I’ve seen legal contracts that are easier to follow than DesignCrowd’s user interface. It’s more complex than economics, though still not as bad as math—my eternal foe.
On DesignCrowd, you can post a “project” that designers can choose to work on. The number of designers who respond to your project depends on the design package you choose for your logo. We’ll explain these packages in detail since the website itself doesn’t do the best job of making it clear.
The most affordable option is the “One Designer Service Project,” which lasts seven days from selecting a designer to finalizing your logo. You can either let DesignCrowd select a designer for you or browse and invite one yourself. We tested this package, along with the “Top Designer” add-on, which ensures that a high-rated designer is assigned to your project.
The next option is the “Mini Contest.” This package includes a one-day submission round to gather entries from three designers, followed by a seven-day finalization round for revisions. It’s only open to designers with a minimum 2.75-star rating (out of 5) and at least 75% positive feedback. You can’t invite specific designers for this option.
The higher-tier packages—the third, fourth, and fifth options—are regular “Contests.” These allow for a seven-day submission round with no limit on how many designers can participate, followed by a seven-day finalization period. You can also invite designers to these contests directly.
The regular contests are open to all designers, fostering competition. You can use polls to gather feedback on submissions, communicate with designers, and build excitement for your project—unless you’ve paid for privacy add-ons (which we’ll cover later).

Projects that are more interesting or better-paying tend to attract higher-quality designers. If you directly invite designers, you’ll have to wait to see who responds, which may put smaller, lower-budget projects at a slight disadvantage.
To address this, DesignCrowd offers a “Top Designers” add-on. With this, they’ll assign a top-rated designer to your “One Designer Service Project” or three top-rated designers to your “Contest.” While you can’t choose the designers yourself, this option could be more cost-effective than hiring a top designer directly.

Navigating DesignCrowd feels like returning to a familiar neighborhood after a decade away—you kind of know where you’re going, but some parts aren’t clear. There are options everywhere, and it feels like everyone’s trying to sell you something.
In short, the sheer number of features can be overwhelming, making the interface confusing at times. It’s not always obvious how to proceed.
For instance, I found the difference between a project and a contest unclear (the website doesn’t explain it well, so I had to ask customer support). To clarify: “Project” is the general term, and it can refer to a “One Designer Service Project,” a “Mini Contest,” or a full “Contest.”
The help center isn’t very intuitive either, as tips for clients and designers are mixed together. I had better luck Googling “DesignCrowd” along with whatever I needed help with.
Another downside is that some parts of the site are outdated. For instance, links in the footer point to “Design bids,” “Design jobs,” and “Design crowdsourcing,” but these services no longer exist. The help center refers to “Design jobs” as “Freelance Jobs,” which is also outdated.
Still, after some time and a bit of Googling, you can figure it out. It’s just not the smoothest experience. (And if you’re familiar with the game Warframe, you’ll know it could be much worse.)
